Post-Mortem Forensic Toxicology is the application of toxicology for the purposes of law. Using this science, one can determine the existence (if any) of drugs, chemicals, carbon monoxide, metals, and other toxic chemicals in human fluids and tissues. By locating these substances, one can evaluate their role in the cause and manner of a death.

The Toxicology Department is under the supervision of a Chief Toxicologist who oversees the work of a Laboratory Manager, an Assistant Chief Toxicologist, a Toxicologist, and an Assistant Toxicologist.
